With Nineteen Eighty-Four, George Orwell made quite a name for himself. Today an Orwellian future is one that’s dark and controlled and filled with surveillance and other nasties.
Then there was Karl Marx who developed influential perspectives about the relationship between human labour and capital. Today Marxism has come to denote a range of thought including class struggle and the equality of all human beings.
So the question for you to ponder is what would your name mean if it were to become an adjective?
For example, my brother and I often talk about ‘doing a Bogucki”, which uses Robert Bogucki’s name as adjective to describe an aimless journey through the outback.
Then there’s ‘to do a Bradbury’, which is a way to describe winning something big thanks to the misfortune of others (although that’s not the way it really happened).
I’m not sure what my name would mean if it were to become an adjective. I suspect it would be something that meant over thinking things.
