The WP-Table Reloaded Plugin – why I love it!

January 11, 2011 by Peter Fletcher

There is a lot to love about WordPress. It’s easy to use and make website maintenance a breeze.

I use a number of WordPress plugins that give this site extended functionality. The latest is called WP-Table Reloaded. It makes inserting a table into a WordPress post or page as easy as 1-2-3. Here’s what the developer has to say.

WP-Table Reloaded enables you to create and manage tables in your WP’s admin area. No HTML knowledge is needed. A comfortable backend allows to easily edit table data. Tables can contain any type of data and additional JavaScript libraries can be used to extend it with features like sorting, pagination, filtering, and more. You can include the tables into your posts, on your pages or in text widgets by using a shortcode or a template tag function. Tables can be imported and exported from/to CSV, XML and HTML.

To make it easy to track the progress of my 5000/365 challenge I created a table using the plugin. Once done I saved the table then inserted the shortcode into the post. The result is an attractive table with display and search options. It’s really cool.

The alternative would be to create a table using HTML and CSS, using an offline editor. I’ve tried that before but playing around for hours with code is not my idea of fun. Of course too many plugins on a site will slow it down, and that’s not good. This one is certainly worth the risk.

There are heaps of other great plugins available. Have you found one that’s worth a shoutout?
